Bruz: I just posted a review of the chapter on the Schlitz bull brands in Alfred "Coach" Powell's book, took a dump, and the next logical thing to do seemed to be to drink a bull brand. Phenomenal crack. Horrid taste. Holy sharp shit Batman! I took a casual 1st swig, and my body erupted in goose bumps. What is this crap? Maybe it IS bull piss like the Coach implies! That was the 2nd shit I've taken today, by the way... I think I need to start taking Metamucil every day for regular, smooth bowel movements. Anyway, at 8.0% and with a taste like this, I'll probaby feel decent by the time I finish drinking the bull god Osiris' pee. Actually I'm getting more used to it, I guess I just wasn't expecting a harsh taste - but now I realize that "yeah asshole, it's 8%, it ain't gonna taste smooth". About 2/3 done & feelin a buzz. The warmer/swillier it gets, the worse (ovulatingously). Ate a Twix bar while taking a piss just now. After the piss, I'm now eating some Cracker Jacks & peanut butter crackers. And NOW I'm eating on some sliced ham coldcuts & Wise potato chips. AND NOW I'm eating sliced pepporoni & herring in wine sauce. There is no slob greater than I. Swill is definite swill. Decent buzz. Overall 6.5/10 swills... 6 seems low, but 7 is too high due to its taste. BULL TO DA MAX KID!! Much thanks to IMT40s, ThUgWiGGa, & neufutur for hookin me up with some of the variants! ![]() |

10/26/09 LMSCRacer: Picked this up at a "Beer Store" in Niagara Falls last vacation and finally got around to swillin' it. Good crack and hiss. First sip reminded me a little bit of Wild Cat but somehow it settled into just a nice malt that was ok all the way to the swill. You gotta love those Canadian WM's. A nearly perfect 7% ABV. Just the right buzz factor for a 40! I give it a solid 8/10 swills and a Racer's Recommendation. ![]() |

4/17/09 d07c0m: I have had this 40 many, many times and have bought it by the case on several occasions. The cheapest 40 at the beer store at (as of this post) at $5.25 a pop (the first time I ever bought it it was $4.95). A case costs just under $60 which makes for a nice little discount. The taste is very smooth when fresh (beware of skunked specimens). It has a sweet overtone which, unlike in some more rugged malts, is not overpowering. The bottle I am drinking now was hand pulled by yours truly from an unopened case on the singles rack at the beer store. The date stamp reads 1129 which is either the 11th of February or the 2nd of November, 2009. Either way this is an excellent malt which I will continue to drink as long as I can get it. When adequately chilled this 40 will remain consistent in taste throughout and provide minimal swill issues. Buzz is medium so a second or even third bottle will be needed to end the night properly. The old school logo on a nice fat widemouth is another bonus. I have been fortunate enough to try the 8% version (albeit in cans bought in British Columbia). The 8% is definitely different and I haven't had it enough to really compare with the Ontario 7% version. A solid 8/10 for taste, availability (in ON), and old school ghetto appeal. Will always be in my rotation of malts. |

3/02/09 morcz: Bull max is my all time favorite 40, it never disappoints. Gives a good crack and a great hiss. Goes down smooth, and is real easy to chug. It keeps its flavor right down to the swill, and even then the swill is not bad at all. Has a nice rich malt flavor, but not sweet. Its awesome. Taste: 10/10 Buzz 8/10 |

12/03/08 91firebird: First off...many props to do7com for the hookup on the Bull Max. This is the "Ontario" version 7.0% ABV 1.18L . Great crack from a Canadian 40. Probably the best I've ever had from a 40 from the Great White North. 1st taste is great and this seems like an easy 40 to pound. Smooth all the way. To me at least this tastes like a East Coast OE which I can get here in Texas, but a little smoother and a little less on the sweet side. Not a whole lot of carbonation but I expected that. The widemouth makes for easy swiggin too. I wish that 40's here in the US would switch back to the WM. When I 1st started drinking 40's widemouths were the thing and I used to pound Steel Reserve WM 40's. Sucks I threw all those bottles out and never kept one . Anyways...this is a great 40 and If I lived in Canada I would swill this on the reg for sure. 9/10 Swills for being a solid smooth swill. Buzz was great too despite being only a 7.0% 40. Again thanks to do7com (Ottawas' malt gangsta) for the hookup ![]() |

11/23/08 Pacuguy: Nice smooth 40, beats the shit out of Canadian and Sludgeweiser 8/10 |

9/22/08 dj oe 800: bull max (7.0) thanks to do7com for allowing me the opportunity to drink this and subsequently add it to my collection. this reminds me a little of a watered-down private stock, believe it or not. but only a little, tiny bit. i've found that drawing comparisons to other malts that no one else does has become somewhat of a theme in my reviews. real nice malt liquor taste, solid. nothing really stands out about this, but it is good, don't get me wrong. the "p-stock" flavor left as soon as i reached the label, btw. a lot of people praise the widemouth for allowing their drinking speed to increase. i like a slower pace, or at least a pace i can control with relative ease, i.e. smallmouths. aight, i think i got the hang of the widemouth. i could survive in canada if i had to.
try it for sure. and yes, the label is kinda boring, but what can you do ![]() |

AK40seven: This odd 40 I actually drank here in the "non-forte" version briefly during the latter nineties. I remembered it then as being similar to the Bull Ice HG of today BUT it had a maltier body and a well delivered punch. But I digress, this Canadian malt was sent to me by my fine friend IMT40s and the experiance has been nothing short of a flashback. It has a well structured mellow malt foundation wth a subtle hint of hops that are not invasive or offensive to the senses. In short, there is nothing that can be crtiticsized greatly, other than maybe a better buzz can be delivered. I give it a solid 8.5 of 10, a brew not to be passed over! |

Alvin Karpis: A huge shout out to my bro do7com for the Bull Max hook up. First of all the label is sick, one of my all time favorites. The Wide Mouth also makes this a great looking 40. Small crack and a weak hiss although a lot of fizz came up from the bottom and made alot of head in the top of the brew. When I took the first sip I was getting ready for the taste of Black Bull as that is the only Canadian 40 I have ever had and holy shit Bull Max tastes fucking awesome! 100X better then the shitty Black Bull. And yes I know that Black Bull is 10% and Bull Max is 7%. Fuck this 40 is very crisp with a great malt taste, at the half way point I have a small buzz going and the 40 is still cold, the fact that this is a Wide Mouth is helping the drinking speed out alot for me. I wish Bull max was avalible in the USA as I would drink this shit all the time! Taste 9/10 Buzz 8/10 Overall 9/10 Bull Max fucking rules! All of the crew from the US need to get a Canadian hook up and do some trades to get this awesome 40! ![]() |

beam21: I rocked my first Bull Max 40s (8%) while in Canada over New Years. They were rugged but I must say I dug em. The taste is sort of harsh and boozy but still tolerable for sure. The bottom third is rough stuff with an especially gnarly aftertaste, but the good news is I found the swill to be (relatively) unrelated to the 40's temperature. (EOS is the same way, and I suspect this is true with many Canadian 'strong beers'). The buzz was mean as well, the B-40 definitely faded with the quickness and I was completely bombed off 2 40s (and a little whiskey and a few j's I guess but whatever). This was a very surprising, solid 40 which earns a cool 7.5/10--it also led me to realize that a widemouth 40 inherently earns an extra half-point always. Widemouth B-40 is the shit. Booyah. |

Buzzcore: Tasted like nail polish remover mixed with corn syrup. Was not too impressed. And the label? It might of looked "modern" about ten years ago, but now it just looks kinda' gay. 4/10 and I'm feeling generous tonight. |
|
CHINO: All I gotta say about this is if a robot could piss this is what it would taste nothing but a metal taste. I hated it, and buzzcore said try it, Thats the last time I listen to him. |
|
IMT40s: I'm not gonna say a whole lot about this crud. I scored 4 of these bitches in Canada. and was soo excited to bust one open and drain it. but as soon as I opened it I knew I was in trouble, first of all there was NO fizz, then I shook the bottle a little bit and still no fizz, so I thought it was a bad batch............ I drank it anyway, it sucked. I tried it with #2 and the same thing. flat as hell and it tasted like a strong malt liquor with a hint of ash. I will say it had a great buzz factor. so for that I give it a 5 out of 10 swills. |

satan165: i got the 8% small mouth empty from IMT40s long ago |
|
sippin apache: Bought 4 of these, got em from the last possible existing case on this planet. Found em in a obscure market in St-Lambert, QC. I've known they had a small stash for 2 years now, kept it in mind cuz this used to be my woman's 4' of choice, last time I went was last spring, the owner says I'm the only one that buys it(charges me 6CAD$ a piece, fucker), this might be the last time I swill it so might as well review it. Bad ass label. Definitly old school. When I started swillin' this came in a brown small mouth at 6.5% alc/vol. This one, clear widemouth at 8% alc/vol. Sediment is present at the bottom and starts floating around when you manipulate it, no big deal. I put it in the freezer until perfect temperature. Cracked loud, one of the last CAD 4's with a neck ring. Swilled it right down to the label in the 1st sipp. Tastes fine, very smooth actually, maybe because it's so cold. Way smoother then a Colt. As I finish this the taste stays smooth even tho I encountered a few chunks on the way. Buzz is very quick to arrive.
9.5/10 Swills. Classic badass old school 40, still tasted good, might be the last ones human kind swill. ![]() |

ThUgWiGGa: First sip was good, not too sweet and somewhat lighter than its 7% counterpart Colt45. This doesnt have a very alcoholic taste, and its very malty. A fair amount of carbonation, but thats how i like it. This definitely tastes better and is easier to drink than the 8% version, which i drank in my inexperienced days. Swill isnt very bad either, same basic flavour. This is a pretty good malt all-around, and the 1% drop in abv did them good. 8/10 |
|
uk82chaospunk: first of all, i like to say that the label looks gay, even my mom said that. i cracked that sucker and it tasted really good for a 8% brew...but as i started drinking more it got worse and worse, it tasted like a stronger version of shlitz blue bull and i dont really like that crap...and the swill..ohhhh man....it took me 15 mins to finish that swill....the buzz was ok, not that big of a deal......6 out of 10 swills |
|
YerPissingMeOff: Bull Max is like black bull if you took away 2% |
