Bruz: This awesome brand at first seemed to go down like water with the slight taste of beer... anotherwords, VERY smoothly. And it still managed to yield a very slight buzz. It also gave me a really bad case of heartburn. But that may be in part due to the Southwestern Burger I had at Friendly's for lunch (which had spicy cheese & jalapeno peppers on it) & the grilled chicken w/honey dijon sandwich that I had for dinner at some sleazy diner. But whatever. The swill was a bit rougher than the fresh brew, but that's typical so I won't hold it against my final rating cuz it was not too pee-like. Overall 7/10 swills, very smooth but nothing too extraordinary. Thanks out to 662 for this one! |

10/11/09 d07c0m: Thanks to dubs for finding it and to brooks for sending it to me. I drank it last night and it sucked. Very plain taste but skunked. 0 buzz, not very interesting even if it were fresh. The label is great and even though the beer sucks I'm glad I was able to a) get one b) drink it. |

7/30/09 SouthLyon40s: So got this semi rare specimen in the mail today from Ders0, along with an Evil Eye Red and Evil Eye Sour. Needless to say I'm more excited to try this than the Evil Eyes. Cracked after getting home from class. Actually after class did some hunting for the still MIA Colt 45 HG, managed to get myself massively lost, massively angry, and massively needing to get drunk. Good thing I had the Slicker. Pulled it out of the fridge and inspected it. The "City Slicker" depicted on the label eyed me cautiously, and finally beckoned. I followed him into his realm. His realm ... is alright. Kind of flat. Fruity taste... almost like you'd expect when getting into an HG... although missing that alcoholic bite that rounds out that type of flavor. Not bad, don't get me wrong. But very very sweet. Taking a closer look at the label. You don't see many like these. If anything it's different. Usually a label will be dominated by giant lettering. But the main focus on this is the actual picture of the city slicker. The smooth urban dweller... who just spends all night chilling under a lamp post.
Taste-wise, this definitely seemed past it's prime, but it wasn't undrinkable. I actually pounded it in a relatively short time. St. Ides funk, HG sweetness, non-carbonated flatness, but overall drinkability. That sums it up just about. Something I WOULD drink again on occasion - even in its less-than-fresh state that I tried it in. ![]() |

662: I think its smoothst malt 40 I give it 9 out 10 |

beam21: working thru this slicker I got from neu today shit's damn good I was a lil worried cause it had leaked a bit (thru no fault of neu's though) but it's flavorful and tasty, I dig it if it's fouled from the leakage and still this good it must be in the top 2-3 tastiest 40s ever when fresh on the heavy side, mild flavor with a malty funk to it, very poundable first thing that comes to mind is a double malt colt although I haven't had one of those in like 3 years Im just below the label and the taste has been super consistent even though it wasn't that cold to begin with and is definitely at sub-prime temp at this point Im doing some work and have kinda been nursing this thang just killed it, swill tasted weird but inoffensive I don't know the abv% on this but it definitely has an above average buzz for a low % malt this is a great every day type of malt like a colt or a KC I'd rip these all the time if I had access to em one of the most awesome labels ever too taste A- buzz B 8.5/10 |

DC40s: This bottle is awesome. The brew is bullshit. I will never drink this again, and chances are, neither will YOU! |
|
ders0: Just drank my first city slicker ever tonight. I did it on 40ozmaltliquortv so of course I had to kill the fucker in ten. It was alright I guess. Pretty bland malt flavor to it. Not a whole lot of kick and not a whole lot of buzz. Just like drinking a beer 40 for the most part. It's not horrible by any means but for a basic malt I'd much rather drink an OE or a Colt. |
|
doublej708: got this 40 as a gift. it was bought in iowa. i was pretty excited to drink this one. had an excellent crack and tasted pretty fresh. this is a good tasting entry level malt. a little stronger than a regular beer, but no where near an HG. i really enjoyed this 40 and wish i could get them regularly. the swill was not bad at all, but i drank it pretty fast so it was still semi cold. all said and done, i give it a 7 out of 10. |

ImissMy64oz: i had my city slicker after a 40 of bud ice a 12 oz heinekin and a 12 oz mgd the slicker went down very smooth but yielded no buzz what so ever shit tasted good and flowed nice plus it has awsome label 6/10 |
|
Manifex: there was not a hint of skunk to it at all. The taste was more of an ice beer, I was impressed. I thought this was too good to be true... after I drank the whole thing I was buzzing pretty good. Even the bottom tasted good, at this point i am very excited. I am still buzzing right now and had to share this with some people who appreciate the 40oz. It was a big find for me! |

neufutur: City Slicker is still being made, and it can be found in Iowa pretty easily. I finally got to drink mine a few nights ago, before going to a party. The taste of the malt was similar to La Crosse Light, which would make sense given that they are both done by the same company. The 40 went down without a problem, there was nothing in the way of a swill, and nothing flavor or swill wise really distinguished it from the masses of malts on the market. Great label, boring malt. 5 for taste, 6 for swill (since it was so inoffensive). |
|
sippin apache: Awesome label. A great collectible. Thank Neufutur. The brew on the other hand was flat and watery. I liked the loud crack but that stopped there. I could compare it to a miller light without the carbonation. Being used to strong QC 40's, for this one to be called Malt liquor sounds all wrong - 3/10 cause of the bottle. EDIT: The 40 stayed steadily cold the whole time I was sipping it. It started to have sort of a fruity taste and be tastier as it got warmer and towards the bottom. As for the buzz factor, i am perplexed, had 2 12oz milwaukees best before the 40 so my review is not anomalous. It yielded some sort or warmth in the face and made me piss a lot, but nothing more. |

Tiger Tai: City Slicker began with a very average malt liquor taste similar to that of Colt 45, not bad tasting by any means. It pretty much stayed very similar to Colt 45 the whole way through. City Slicker yeilded a average buzz leading me to think its anywhere from 5.61% (Colt 45) - 6%. So all in all I'd rate City Slicker 7 of 10 Swills.... |
