Bruz: Basic is as basic does. Bad beer 40 under a big name. Nothing special, nothing bad, nothing good. "Blah" label. Overall quite possibly the most boring 40 ever made. I almost rather drink a raunch 40, just so it sticks out in my mind & gives me something to talk about. But yeah, I'd only drink this - like now - if I needed the bottle for my collection. 5/10 swills for 5% alcohol & 100% boring. Much thanks out to satan165 & Drastic Mezures for a couple of the variants! |

4/2/10 SouthLyon40s: As promised here I am to review this relic. As far as anyone can tell, this stuff is gone in 40 oz form. Most would say good riddance. I actually liked the stuff. I'm a huge fan off Coors Original, in either the can or the bottle. Ran into this stuff in 40 oz form when I was "hunting" Brighton, MI in 2006. "Hunt" in quotations because a hunt in Brighton consists of about 4 or 5 stores. Went into a store called Canopy Liquor, and checked out their cooler. Nothing but the usual worthless specimens of light beer 40s. At this point I decided I was sick of hunting, and decided to just cut my losses and pick up a 24 pack of something for the night. Figured I'd get fancy and get The Banquet Beer. I knew it was what my friend out in the car would have wanted, and it's what I wanted too. Checked the rest of the beer coolers. Nothing, not even 12 packs of the stuff. I figured we'd just hit up a grocery store on the way back to my buddy's house and started to leave the store. "Can I help you with anything?" "Ummm, no. I was looking for Coors Original... didn't see it." "Oh, I've got some in the back. Special order for a customer. I hope 40 oz. is alright though" 40 oz was very much alright with both myself and my friend. I picked up 4, and we actually ended up hitting up the grocery store anyway to garnish our score with a 24 pack of Coors Original too. As for the actual review. It tasted like Coors Original in a 40. It had that vague "vanilla" flavor that I've somehow convinced myself I taste whenever I drink the Banquet Beer. SO much better than Budweiser and MGD - the competition I guess. I remember sitting outside on my buddies porch slowly working on this smoking a cigarette, thinking about how utterly "adequate" it was. This beer was very adequate. Nothing out of the ordinary. It's exactly what you'd expect. It drew no complaint. 10/10 for fond memories of adequacy. |

3/26/10 Bluesteak: Turns out this was behind some boxes in the storage room and instead of throwing it away they put it in the cooler, I snatched it up and drank it not knowing the rarity of it. Finally got to try this and was disappointed with the end result. I am a fan of Coors Light, but this stuff tastes like sparkling water mixed with pancake batter. 3/10 swills because it old. |
beerface: Worst tasting stuff ever. I rather drink a 40 of anything (Magnum, Steel Reserve, anything) over a 12oz. of this. |
Buzzcore: This was one of my first 40's and I haven't had it in a while, but figured I'd try it again for old times...............a decent beer, but nothing special. Maybe a notch above Bud, but honestly, I've always liked Coors Extra Gold a little better. Wish I could find the Extra Gold in a 40, but then again it's the same 5% low-octane buzz as the Original, so what's the difference? Costs more than most malts too, so why bother? I'll be sticking with stuff that has a little more punch, and a little less redneck appeal. 4/10 |
EastTN40: Very watery tasting. No character or personality in it's taste. Boring and predictable. 5/10 Swills. Great for those who make love in canoes, very close to water! Avoid. |
FultonCounty40z: If you haven't had this beer, you live under a rock. If you haven't had this 40, thats ok, its not too easy to find. Thanks to drastic for the trade. its an average common beer taste...i'd take coors lite over it, but they both kinda suck anyway. |
ImissMy64oz: THIS SHIT IS GARBAGE |
OldeGoldSwilla: Not a bad beer, not a good 40oz! I would be surprised to meet someone who strictly swills coors original 40oz's |
Tiger Tai: I'm not too sure what to think about Coors Original, I think Coors Light tastes better. ah fuck it I wasn't really feelin Coors too much, I didn't like the taste much. I'd rate Coors Original with Budweiser 5 of 10 Swills. |

troobie: This is one of the few beers offered in both cans and bottles that I have yet to figure out which container I prefer. I love that the cans have their own diameter, different from every other can out there, but Coors in the can is always somewhat flat compared to the 40oz bottle. The bottle has mad carbonation. I get really thirsty for this sometimes. It is advertised pretty heavily in my city, and when I see that big brown bottle with the gold label I get thirsty. Unfortunately, the more I drink it the less I seem to like it. Pretty flavorless, even considering it's just a lager. Almost like a light beer. Of course, very little buzz. Doesn't matter how much I drink, buzz stays at a constant level of not enough. For being cheap, easy to find, having a good label, and being a classic, I give it 6/10. My suggestion is to get a 30 pack of Keystone Ice, and enjoy the same flavor with another .9% of alcohol included. |

uk82chaospunk: bullshit beer, bullshit brown wide mouth 40...what do you get when you put the 2 together? coors original piss water...i hate this damn beer, i chugged it fast but it tasted like shit all the way down to the swill, suprisingly the swill tasted like the rest of the 40, but thats not agood taste anyway...i got very little to no buzz off this 40, fucking lame....i'll never buy another one of these again....sometimes i wish i could just get the shitty 40s empty from the liquor store so i can just put em in my collection, but i dont waste alcohol so i drank it. 2 out of 10 swills for coors |
