Bruz: Good crack with a good street malt flavor. This helps ease the pain of just having spent $414 on my girlfriend's 2 cats to be neutered & declawed. Having this with some chicken paprikash. Kind of a dirty malt. Swill is rough. Overall 6.5/10 swills for class... country club stylezzz. Much thanks to White Mike for the hookup on the $1.59 SRP label variant! |
3/24/11 TX40oz: Thanx to BigJandthe40 for this hookup...I can't find these in my area of TX (couldn't find em in Boston either) and I've heard a lot about it. Good crack... head went down quick. Drinkin this while eating some pork chops... tastes very similar to Colt 45...would definitely be a good starter 40 for a long night...tastes better than any of the AB 40's, def doesn't beat OE. Would recommend it to friends if we could get it here. |
10/4/10 odeed: This is my "go to" 40 at the moment.1.98 makes it the cheapest 40 I can buy locally and at 5.86% packs a decent buzz. The swill is a little funky but overall it's a fine Malt if you ask me. 7/10 |
8/11/10 timmah1231: Finally found a 40oz of this malt at a store in northwest NJ. Sipping this while watching some Top Gear from the UK. This isn't your corporate, sweetened-up malt liquor like OE or Colt. This is raw, dirty, grainy malt liquor. Still, it's rather decent...it's distinctive enough for a different taste experience, but usual and average enough to have on the reg. The label is classy and simple, and the drink itself is run-of-the-mill, but with that "fuck you" edge to it. It doesn't need to take shit from you about its more raw taste, it's Country Club. Take it or leave it. I, personally, will take it. Buzz ain't half bad, either.
7/10 swills. ![]() |

3/26/10 sleazye: First off, thanks to ChulaVista40oz for hooking me up with this semi-obscure 40! The crack and hiss were pretty good, especially the hiss. Good points so far. A lot of people have bashed this 40, but I happen to enjoy it a fucking lot. There may be a higher than usual corn sludge profile to this but I enjoyed it hugely. A great 40 to add on to a good buzz. With a weird name as Country Club, you would expect something snobby; but its generic taste is kind of a good thing. If this was common in my area, I would not hesitate to have this in my heavy rotation. All in all, a decent 40 to round off a good bender. The basic taste is rounded off by a pretty cool label.
Taste: 8/10 |

11/11/09 40ozHawaii: I have had two CC's prior to this review, and this one makes my third. To start off, l I am drawn to the clean look of the label, the simple font, the white, gold, red and blue. Easy on the eyes. Interestingly, the color of the brew matches the gold foil trim for an aesthetic appeal. The taste is clean and crisp, with little to no aftertaste. The aroma is almost non-existent. I can imagine swillin' these on a hot summer day, or simply when you are looking for a light-bodied malt liquor. Like most 40oz beers that I consume, I prefer it to be well-chilled, but this forty can hold its own even if the brew is somewhat warmer than perfect. I reason tha this is due to the right balance of alcohol content. Too bad this is not a regional beer for me. I enjoy the subtle taste of this one.
Taste: 8.0/10 |

10/26/09 troobie: I'm going to have to look into the ABV on this one. I don't drink Country Club often but it is always around if I want it. Not sure why this stuff has the ability to stay on the shelf when I don't know anyone who drinks it. The store I stopped at tonight just started carrying it; they even have a window cling on the cooler door to advertise it. $2.05 out the door. I'm not expecting much in the buzz department from this. I like the smell. Although it leans towards an "old man beer" smell (PBR, MB) it is different, really malty and inviting. Super easy to drink. Sweet. Nothing at all offensive about it. The "light beer" of malt liquors. I actually wouldn't call this a malt liquor. Taste wise it is somewhere between a normal macro lager and a macro ice beer. I haven't been paying too much attention to my 40 and have been sipping it for some time. Even warm it tastes great. No swill at all. The carbonation holds well. This is a great 40 if you wanna take it easy. I'm going to pick another one of these up soon. Also, if you know anything about the history of malt liquor you know that Country Club has been around longer than any of you have been alive....it deserves respect to say the least. I love the old school label. 8/10 |

9/24/09 SouthLyon40s: This will be my second ever country club. The first of which I drank a little bit over a year ago... but remember exactly zero from. I just wanted the bottle and guzzled it down without a second thought. I just remember it being perfectly acceptable. Didn't knock me out. Then again. I don't remember if I drank this before or after the Silver Thunder - which I received from Dukesplace in that first trade. Anyway. This bugged me. So I got another one from BigJ along with a Pit Bull (which I'm less excited to drink) Here's my review. GCGH (good crack good hiss - I'm going to start using this now) Smell is inoffensive, mild, nothing fruity or metallic hinted at. First taste is awesome. This is what I want in a 40. Smooth as anything I've ever tasted. Hitting the label on the first couple gulps of this thing. Numerous people have commented on how this was a "sub-par" tasting 40 and I couldn't agree more. I actually like this type - the "mild" tasting (King Cobra / Magnum) to the heavier OE and Colt 45. As of right now there is nothing "dirty" about this malt. I am currently all about this. No aftertaste. "Finishes clean" I guess you could say. Real fucking poundable. I kind of feel like if this were available within striking distance of myself I would probably get into this stuff hardcore. The lighter flavor, the simple label, the overall understated quality of this malt - all of this is enjoyable to me. Enjoy some subtle qualities all you naysayers.
Even now as I venture into swill town this holds up better than most. Sure it's not great, but it isn't putrid. I'd like to compare this to Ice Man. Just an all around pleasant experience. ![]() |

9/6/09 211 Swilla: I've been out of the 40 game for over a year, they're just not available where I'm at, but on coming to 40oz country (brooklyn) I went straight for CC. Never had it before and I knew I had to try it. Shit was great, the only problem was that it was gone so quickly: the low alk content and light body make it a fast swiller. The taste was good, but the low % will keep it from becoming a go to 4 in my opinion. The swill was good, i even drank the secondary swill (when the residue bubbles pop and you get a little more after you think you're done), which was of course gross, but it speaks highly of the initial swill- it was good enough that I risked drinking the secondary. CC is a good middle of the day, sitting in the sun kind of 40, not a heavy hitter but worth trying for sure. 5/10 because there is nothing wrong with CC but nothing that good either. |
8/9/09 del: Just downed one of these...I wanted to add a pad of butter to it cause it tasted like straight corn on the cob. It was smooth but still weak sauce. Price was right so i'll give it extra points for that but still only 5/10. |
8/3/09 40zForSatan: I had a pretty good crack on my CC, I caught a whiff of it on the way up and it smelled as if it was skunked but it wasn't. I would call this a lite-malt, the kick just wasn't there, and it tasted like a domestic beer. I got this for my collection though because I love the label, which is the best thing about it. I downed it in 6 minutes, didn't get much of a buzz going which was kind of disappointing. I was hoping to step into a 5 star resort of flavor but the name was misleading. I'd gives this a 6 out of 10 because the label is great but the taste is sub-par. |
3/20/09 defecation: When I was a kid, in the late 80's/early 90's, this use to be 69 cents a 40 at the local Safeway. My friends and I stupidly theorized that if it cost less that the alcohol percentage had to be weaker then it's more expensive peers. Stupid I know. Lucky for me with age comes a bit of wisdom or I'd be fucked. Anyway, fast forward to now, Magnum is now $2.13. Mickeys is $2.93 and on and on. At the same Safeway that a 40oz of Country Club was once a modest $0.69 it's now $1.99. You know what? I think it's good standard malt 40. To me it more or less tastes just about the same as King Cobra or Colt 45. Blind folded I'd have a hard time differentiating between them by taste alone. I think it's great for a normal malt as long as they are popped into the freezer for awhile before indulging. Don't forget to pick up a extra 40, 12/ 6pack or 22oz of something for after and have fun. |

3/04/09 CountryCluber408: Country Club. Firs off, has one of the sickest labels in my area, I mean c'mon they are not even trying.. which is great to me----Country Club !!! So sick "Americas Premium Malt Liquor" Even Sicker. Aaaalso one of the oldest malt liquors out of America...so respect is due either way. Back when I discovered the 40oz... I came across only a few real 40s in my area, they were OE, 211, Mickeys, KC, MGD, (all the rest of the regular beer/ gay light beer wack 40s) and then there was the Country Club 40oz. This is the "rare" 40 In my area. only sold at Safeways, and some other stupid stores. Either way CC 40 became an icon among my 40 oz drinking friends. Being the 40 of choice to rep our area. I know its sold all over but for here it seemed kinda rare at the time. So on to the review. CC to me can be pretty inconsistent. One time it honestly tasted like ramen noodle soup. no joke. Usually it tastes like an odd Colt 45. But mostly it tastes pretty good for a $1.81 40oz. One time for new-years, me and my boys got a hotel, stocked up on some 12 Country Clubs and a bunch of other shit...and got down!!! All I remember was puking in the hotel hallway Indian-style. Not proud of that but it is a good memory. So for all my time with THE Country Club over the years...in a rap, I would say 9/10. Dropped one, because of the Ramen Soupe deal....I ate that shit earlier that day. |
2/26/09 BWill40s: Never reviewed this when I drank it so I will do so now! This was not very good but not the worst it indeed tasted like a skunked version of colt 45! I only drank this for the collection. Thanks to Big J 6-10 Swills |
1/26/09 BigJandthe40: I am from Oakland CA and have been around this shit my whole life. If your from the bay then yo know this is a very shitty 40. Most of the member from this crew seem to be from the east coast so this is "rare" to them. But let me tell you the only real reason I but this shit is to trade to East coast bros to upgrade my collection. I really think this is bad shit. Dont get me wrong the Label is cool shit but the beer is utter shit. I put this one real low on my list. I would say 4/10 ![]() |
1/20/08 nickmoulton: Cracked this behind a roller skating rink in Poughkeepsie NY with bruz. Country Club sucked real bad, and it didnt help that he delivered it to me at a crisp, 60 degree temperature. This just kept getting warmer and warmer, even though it was about 10 degrees outside. It was like 40 ounces of swill. I hope that I can get my hands on it again and drink it ice cold...maybe it would help me to dig up a better review. It produced foamy, gay burps, and not many of them. Then, it made me pee real hard. Anyways, thats that. 4/10 for being a warm, stinky, dirty flavored malt. |
10/02/08 JAP: Rather surprised I have not reviewed this 4 sooner. It is one of my fav. 4's for now.it's a little smoother than hurricain but equal to OE in taste but packs more of an alcoholic punch. Over all shits real good, can get it in six pack 16oz can six packs as well, but the 40 rules no doubt. get'em if you got'em.whatever. |
40ozNewOrleans: I pulled it out ice cold and cracked the cap. It seemed to have a little bit of carbonation, but the smell was something else. This is by far the worst smelling malt I've downed. The taste was as bitter as Mickey's with a bizarre aftertaste that nearly made me retch. I kept taking huge chugs to avoid having to experience that aftertaste and to keep it from getting warm. Maybe this was a skunked bottle. I haven't seen it everywhere else, and this gas station was out of the way, so perhaps I had an old brew. I doubt I will buy another for comparison though... The swill wasn't any worse than the rest of the brew, but that isn't saying much. The buzz was alright but suffering this much for 5.7% isn't worth it. Not when I can grab a smooth King Cobra at 5.9%. I give the Club 4 out of 10 swills. |
91firebird: Swilled my 1st CC last night. I was already kinda fucked up so the review isn't as accurate as I would have liked. It had a great crack and the 1st swill was nice. Like others have said, CC is a dirty ghetto malt. There really isn't a aftertaste and overall it was a decent swill. Obviously there are other 40's better than Country Club, but It's pretty cheap. Thanks to SanJose for the hookup on this overall 7/10 swills. Drove to Houston yesterday and I found CC 40's in a bodega in the hood. 99 cents for a 40 so that is freakin awesome, although they only had 3 left and I think they might be old, but fuck it for a buck it's worth it. They're gonna get swilled one way or another. |
4TDogg: Never had this one until recently. Judging by the label, I thought it would be some nasty ass ghetto-shit. Not so. Pretty smooth going down, a bit sweet but not sickeningly so. A little funky when it gets warm - although it tastes decent enough that you probably wouldnt let it get that way. Buzz factor average. 7.5 out of 10 |
beerface: This is so bad, it tastes like poison. "America's Premium Malt Liquor" my dick! GOD! GOD! A warm Steel Reserve tastes better than this! |
beerstud: Let me start off by saying Uncle Kraker is gay. The only way Country Club stays cold is if you are drinking it at 40,000ft under the sea, or perhaps somewhere in Alaska. It is smooth going down but it tastes so bad that you are forced to taste it twice; once while going down and again while you are throwing this shit up. This is great for seasoning meat, it sounds crazy but you should try it sometime, it gives meat that raunchy flavor. Call me old fashioned but I sure love a raunchy piece of meat. |
Bud404life: Country Club really tastes no different than Big Bear to me. Its smooth goin down, towards the bottom it had no taste. "It taste like nothing", i gove it a 7/10. |
Buzzcore: This is one of my favorites. They haven't changed that damn logo since the 50's, and for good reason. You can't go wrong with three X's and a gold crown. I like it enough to have a giant light up "Country Club" bar room sign hanging over my TV. Anyway, even though it doesn't possess much of a punch (I think it's the standard 5.6%), it tastes pretty good. And, let's be honest........it has some serious old school cred. I remember reading an interview with the guy who invented Colt 45, and he said something to the effect of "back then Country Club was the only malt liquor worth a damn" and I'd agree with him. Hell, I like it a lot better than C-45! And the fact that Uncle Cracker doesn't like it, only makes it better. A solid 7, but I'm giving it an 8 as my way of saying "Fuck You!" to Uncle Cracker and his white trash buddy, Kid Rock. |
Dave Kozy: I'm working hard on a CC. It has a bad aftertaste. Damn dirty sock funk. The buzz isn't too good either. Another Milwaukee "pearl". I gotta give it a point cause it was my pop's drink of choice. 5 outta 10 chugs. |
DC40s: This is somehow replacing Corona Light in my book as the #1 fraudulent non-beer marketed as a beer. Which is to say, it sucks terribly. No matter, though, since the bottle is pretty cool. |
DismantleJuneau: Judging by the color, I expected this to be a lighter malt.. Well, After having a Schlitz Malt Liquor and a Mickeys before this, I still taste that ghetto 40 flavor.. I like ANYTHING with alcohol in it so it is tollerable. Not much of an after taste for me. Semi sweet taste. Not bad though. I believe I payed too much though. Around 2-3 bucks. Hurricane(which I compare everything to) is way better. But a good addition to my collection. I'd buy again. 6/10 swills! |
dj oe 800: i honestly don't remember country club tasting bad at all, although the taste definitely suffers if you let it get warm. it was a really smooth, indistinct drink that gave a decent buzz, and the label is nice, too. plus, the fact that it's called "country club" and it's a fucking FORTY OUNCE CONTAINER OF MALT LIQUOR just cracks me the fuck up. |
Drastic Mezures: Country Club is a weird 40. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad and other times it's somewhere in the middle. This time it was exceptionally good. I recently had this at a Christmas party right after pounding down a Piels 40. After having a weak beer 40 the rich, smooth, creamy taste of Country Club really stood out. The first thing that came to mind as soon as I had the first sip was Colt 45 Double Malt and Night Hawk. This 40 also wasn't as cold as the Piels 40, which sat in a cold fridge for days and yet it didn't develop any nasty ass end swill. I already had a mild buzz going but this complimented and extended it nicely. I usually don't like reviewing a 40 if I already had one right before it but this one deserved a second review. I've always liked Country Club but this was by far one of the best I ever had. ![]() |
Dukesplace: Country club has been around since the 60's, and was origanlly marketed to upper class white folks... well were not in the 60's anymore and now its not maketed at all, However the $1.59 srp is all the maketing I need, goes down easy, got me minorly buzzed, and the swill was not bad at all. Plus, with a classy name, and bottle label, goes great with Nantucket reds, and driving mocks. I rate this 8 out of 10, for great taste, and great label design. |
Fat John: Pounded this one down on my birthday.I was likin this shit a lot.It was real easy for me to get into.Smooth and good tasting. If they sold it around here i'd drink a lot of it.Swill was average.Overall a solid 40 in my opinion.I'll give it a 7 out of 10. |
hg8point2: i thought this 40 was pretty damn good.this shit flowed down like water and tasted decent too.i downed it in about 20mins so it stayed perfectly chilled while i was swillin.the swill tasted just like the rest of it,wasnt harsh at all.it yielded a slight buzz at best but i did like the painted cap.all in all i like it.7/10 |
ImissMy64oz: i like teh country club better after a few tries. its a low level malt. a front lines malt. a foot soilder malt. it is not availble in chicago though which sucks cause id like to have a club every now and then tastes like a red bull but a few grades lower 6/10 |
Jayd55: Country Club is one of my favorite 40s. |
JoeWebberlione: Thanks to my man Dukesplace for the hook up on this one, swilled it last nite at my boys house and I enjoyed every last sip of it, was unfortunate it only lasted me a half hour, I would have liked to have more, thats the only thing I dont like about a new 40, is when I love it & then theres no more. I'd swill this on the reg if I had the chance to! I like it almost as much as OE, probably just about neck & neck with Mickey's on my list. I give this American Premium malt 9 outta 10 swills. |
Kevlar281: For a $1.29 I think Country Club tastes great. |
Kool EJ: What is this sh*t? Malt liquor light?! This tasted more like a regular beer 40 than anything else. Even the color is paler by comparison to your standard 40. It doesn't taste strong at all. I'd be curious to know what the actual alcohol content is. Can't be more than 5.0% ABV. I'm pissed that this is so readily available too, since there are so many other 40's I'd rather drink than this one. If I wanted a Budweiser 40, I would've bought one! |
MarkBlackout: I was excited about this one: classic 40, classic design, hilarious name. I didn't know Country Club had a 2-color silkscreened cap until i opened the package! (thanks to *****)! That's when I was sure that this 40 was going to be one classy affair. Opened with a very loud hiss. Smooth, very poundable malt. Not too sweet, not too dry, not too carbonated. Buzz factor is pretty reasonable.. I'd have to give this one a solid 8 out of 10 swills. I'd drink this regularly if I could get it, especially in warm weather. edit: gains a sharp, cheap taste below the label, despite still being cold. strange indeed. and sharp, and cheap. buy it. |
OldeGoldSwilla: Country Club is the best value malt. It is typically the cheapest 40oz at your local store and is so much better than its competition. It goes down smooth although it's no hg. I would drink country club any day!! |
pman433: this shit would be good in 22s pretty good till it gets the slightest biy warm or flat |
PONGI: fuck dogs magrunm is shittey country clubv is aite but gots be cold ithem are my reviews |
satan165: drank my 3rd CC ever last night |
sippin apache: Bought my Country Club at a ghetto ass Food Mart in Albany, NY. The 40 looks cool, it has a very loud crack but all stops there. I tastes like a regular beer, even tho I says Malt liquor. I had that 40 in the freezer for an hour, it was ice cold, I sipped it rapidly and the taste kept getting worst, and warmer. Forget about putting it back in the freezer, I pounded it. Tatse is nothing special 5/10, Buzz is weak 4/10. |
splatterhouse00: Decent 40, Pretty smooth very drinkable. The thing about this is that its very plain, from the label to alcohol content. I wish they wouldn't carry this in stores around here so they could make room for something better. 6/10 for being bland and boring |
SpyderMike: Found this gem at the a-rab mart last night and was amazed upon inspection. I bought one and hurried out to my adventure with stars in my eyes. Let it be known that I drank a deuce of o-e and c-45 before drinking this but dig it- I only hada sip until I smoked too much dank and passed out. I drank 3/4 of to finish it off as I type this. Label is top notch; I'd get a t-shirt or even a poster of this shit. Taste- eh it tastes a lot like flavored creek water. I like it. Not anything to write home again but I'd buy numerous more bottles. 7/10 swills for the buck fifty I paid, and I'm jealous of the jerk who got it for a dollar. I'm from ohio though, and I enjoy the cat just as much or more |
Tiger Tai: Country Club isn't too bad but it does have a bad after taste. I drank one in the shower the other day and got a nice buzz. words to the wise: WARNING!!! DO NOT LET COUNTRY CLUB GET WARM!!!! I'll give Country Club 6 of 10 Swills. |
tYMebOMb1: nasty bitch, country club is gross |
uk82chaospunk: another 40 that i got for my collection, i drank this shit while watching a show about vegas with my parents...damn i drink too many 40s with my parents, anyway i went down pretty smooth..i dont like the after taste but other than that it tasted pretty decent and it actually gave me a buzz...probably cuz i didnt eat before i drank it...this 40 seems like a high class 40 for some reason...now i'm listening to wu tang and the bass is bumping hard as fuck....a 40 thta makes music sound better is always good....i'll give this fucker 8 out of 10 swills for being pretty damn good....but i wouldnt drink it on a regular basis...its all about the all mighty olde e!!! |
