Bruz: It's your typical foamy bad beer, real low in alcohol content too. Foamy bad beers yield foamy bad burps, but if you're ready & willing to deal with those, than you can knock back about 3 of these 40s no problem. Overall 5/10 swills for being a big bottle of weak swill. Thanks out to LMSCRacer for one of the variants & nickmoulton for the chance at a re-review! |

2/23/10 40ozHawaii: Experienced this beer the other day. Not too much to say- I have had two of these now, and my motivation to try it was because I liked the name and the label. It doesn't have much body, character, or unique flavor to it. However, I wouldn't expect this kind of beer to. The carbonation was good, which makes it appealing for its subtle taste. Thanks to Boston40hunter for the swill.

10/7/09 Detroit40oz: I first got this 40oz back in october of 2007 thanks to neufutur when we met up near detroit and traded a ton of shit. I chilled it in my freezer for about an hour and took it, along with a hurricane 40 (also from neu) to a friends bonfire. I took one sip and let someone else sip it, they dropped it and it shattered all over the driveway. 2 years later, i got another golden anny from boston40hunter (thank you so so much). no ring detach, as to be expected from a cap without a detachable ring. same deal with all of the genesee 40's and pittsburgh brews like iron city, night flight, wild cat, and the eagle. i'm certain that 40's of iron city, the eagle, and night flight are R.I.P. and wild cat for whatever reason has been transferred to la crosse in wide mouth and brewed by "GJS Sales" or whatever bullshit they call themselves. anyways thats unrelated to the golden anny. this is a solid bad beer.
I like it better than pabst while its true that almost all bad beers have similar tastes, golden anniversary is just a notch better than any bad beer ive ever had. i still haven't had all the bad beers available, but ive had almost all of them, and golden anniversary tops them all, atleast from the 40oz, but id like to try cans some day, a case of golden anniversary just sounds like awesome shit. it tastes less watery, the carbonation is just right, and the taste is awesome. even the swill is great. if i were to judge by buzz factor, id judge weak, but obviously anyone getting into a beer 40 knows that they arent gonna catch the buzz of a high gravity, or even a regular malt. id give this a 9/10 for a bad beer 40. taste = awesome buzz = what you should expect from a 4.4%abv brew. i dont think id come across a brew any better that goes for 2 bucks or less for a 40oz. |

10/7/09 sleazye: First off, thanks to boston40hunter for the hookup on this bad beer 40! First time having this in a 40 oz size considering it's only available in the cans in my town. Popped this open after having a 40 of Hurricane. The hiss was pretty loud for this 40 oz, considering it only comes in at 4.4% ABV; even weirder was the fact the cap almost always never detaches from the ring. Anyways, on to my review... The carbonation on this low ABV percentage 40 were awesome in my opinion which makes for great belches and the carbonation never vanishes even after taking your time with this. Also, the label rules for the fact alone it reminds you of a beer your father or even grandfather would drink after a day of hard work or grilling foods on the grill. For being known as such a "bad beer" this is tasty as hell and highly recommended, even though it may take 2-3 of these to get some of a buzz, it's worth it.

9/23/09 40zForSatan: Golden Anniversary is a pretty good bad beer, I really enjoyed this. I drank it on a saturday morning before a ducks game in about 7 minutes, it was really cold. Very carbonated, it had a bite to it, it gave a real kick with each drink. I don't know if I would drink this often but it would be nice on an occasion.

7/29/09 BWill40s: I was looking through my 40 reviews trying to find a 40oz that I have drank in my collection and have not yet reviewed. "Boom" Golden Anniversary Beer I had a buddy last Sept, That lives in upstate NY, He was coming back down to MA to visit his family and friends. So he called me up and told me he had some goodies for me. This was one of them. along with some Silver Thunders and Magnum 40's Be Known to me I later found out that I can get Golden Anny in 12oz cans for $3.99 a 6er and $7 a 12er. So the taste has not been lost since the 40oz was sipped last year. This is a very rich beer taste for the almost light beer % at 4.4. Nonetheless still a great brew for a 40. Perfect for doing some outdoor yardwork. Raking or w/e you need to do while outdoors. The label is real cool and the brown bottle makes it seem like you are sipping on a more expensive 40oz IMO. Overall Golden Anny gets a 8-10 from the 40oz bottle or 12oz can I will never pass up one if you hand it to me! |

3/14/09 BigJandthe40: Props to boston40hunter
This shit was super smooth and also very good taste wise, its a beer 40oz so the buzz is lacking but I really enjoyed the taste and liked it more then
any other beer 40 I have had so far! If you can get this or trade for it I give it a thumbs up ![]() |

12/11/08 91firebird: First off many props to Racer for the hookup on this Golden Anniversary. No crack......sucks but I expected that. 1st sip is good. I was expecting a "bad beer" taste to this but there was none. Shit is smooth and delicious. I was expecting a "PBR" "Old Style" taste but this shit is crisp and is on point like a motherfucker. Only 4.4 ABV but it does a great job. This is by far one of the best "beer" 40's I've ever had. It also stayed cold all the way and the flavor did not change. Overall 9/10 this is a solid 40. I would bet it tastes like shit out of a can, but out of a 40.... it's awesome. Just as an FYI. Me and Racer had done a trade a while back and the 1st Golden Anny leaked and had to be dumped. Racer made it a point to grab me another when he went back to that spot and sent me a fresh one out of goodwill. That's Malt Gangsta, I don't give a fuck where you're from. ![]() |

10/10/08 d07c0m: Got this from Nickmoulton as well. This stuff tastes really good. Nice and bread-y. Smells and tastes like a good old-time bad beer. Doesn't go rapidly down hill as it gets empty, stays cold too. Apparently 12 packs of this are 3-4 bucks and the 40s around $1.50. If I had access to this beer I would not need any other cheap beer.

9/3/08 dj oe 800: no ring detach! nice! has that "bad beer" taste, which (i love, but) normally means "see review of (Bad Beer X)," but it's little bit more heavy in a way i can't quite put my finger on. it reminds me just a little bit of miller high life. just a tiny little bit. it's a really nice taste, but the beer itself is more filling than your basic bad beer. i think that about does it for this one. not only a sick bottle to add to a collection, but worth trying regardless. probably intolerable in a can.
props to my man nickmoulton for the hookup. ![]() |

brooks79Z: Again, thanks to racer for this Decent crack and hiss. This was a very good beer 40. i drank it fast to try to avoid the swill, however im convinced it wouldnt have been bad. Taste reminded me of Budweiser or maybe PBR I liked this a lot, of course no buzz factor really, but i stillgive it a 7 out of 10 |
|
Buzzcore: If you've read any of my other reviews, you'll know I like value........and Koch's Anniversary Beer has to be some of the cheapest stuff you can find. Unfortunately, it provides NO buzz whatsoever. It's like buying tractor gas for a Dodge Viper. Tastes like it too. The only reason why I ever buy this stuff, is because I get a kick out of the fact that it's so cheap, and forget that it tastes so bad. Hopefully, writing this review will permenantly remind me of how bad this death swill is. 1/10 for the value alone. |
|
Drastic Mezures: Got this from LMSCRacer a while back. Decent hiss but no crack due to the fact that the cap has those tabs that come off with the cap instead of the detacable ring. I gotta agree with Sippin Apache's review: smooth, no aftertaste and a slight taste of hops but I would like to add that it has a thicker taste than average watery bad beers and it also has an excellect burp factor. Good mild buzz. Overall not bad for a "bad" beer. |
|
LMSCRacer: I'll second Wildman - this is a solid beer 40. I almost feel bad that I commited to trade 8 of them (just kidding). The beer is very similar to Genesee (could be since High Falls in Rochester, NY brews them both). A decent enough taste and carbonation level - very easy to chug. Even the swill was decent. Not much of a buzz factor as Bruz pointed out above. Overall a good value. 5/10 swills. |
|
satan165: brew rules, tastes fuckin awesome, awesome label, super rare, fred koch displays mad gangsterism stylez, i would drink this regularly,id love ot drink this and then a good malt 40, this shit rocks |
|
sippin apache: Thanks Racer. The 40 looks awesome, like a vintage 40.
This brew is a beer, no doubt there. Like a regular good ol beer. I prefer malts but I would drink this on a reg as for beer goes. It's smooth, no aftertaste with a slight taste of hops, almost indistinguishable. The buzz is comparable to any regular brew. |
|
Wildman40: solid beer 40, plus only $1.25! I forget the ABV, but its still solid, i drank this after a St. Ides HG so i was feeling good already...Plus its brewed locally to me, Rochester NY...overall nice 40, not amazing, nothing unique but pretty good. I'd give it a 5/10. |
