Bruz: It takes the Labatt Bleue Dry 7.1, which I enjoyed, and adds another percentage point of alcohol content to it. The 7% range is the perfect range in terms of combining taste + alcohol content, but now we're stepping into dangerous territory at 8% and beyond. However, the 8.1% LBD is a surprisingly smooth brew for one of that caliber. The american 40s in the 8% range usually have a harsher almost metallic taste that has become practically synonymous with "high gravity". This 40, on the other hand, is more like drinking Labatt Bleue Dry (go figure) than Steel Reserve. The 8.1% alcohol content is not offensive... but it does take away a bit from the overall taste. I feel ok giving this 40 a 6.5/10 swills.

1/11/10 morcz: Had this recently on a trip to montreal, picked it up from some custbag variety store, cracked when i got back to my hotel room. Was lousy to say the least, i don't know why this one tasted like such shit, when the first time i had it; it was awesome. This time it had low carbonation, heavy metallic taste, and a slight alcohol burn. Taste wise, ill give this a 5/10, and buzz wise ill give it a 8.1/10; as this kicked off a day of obscene drunken belligerence. overall 5.1/10

Old review (3/29/09): This may very well be my favorite 40. Goes down extremely smooth, no sweetness. No after taste. It literally almost tastes like normal blue 12oz bottles. If i had another on hand, to see if its consistent, id give it a 10/10, but the one i had, was perfectly carbonated, smooth taste, no after taste, buzz was quick to come and smooth. This 40 rocked. Since i only had this once, cant comment on consistency so 9/10 for taste, and 8/10 for buzz.

Buzzcore: Surprisingly, this tasted like a stronger version of the regular ole' Labatt Blue that's sold in the states. That would be great, if I liked Labatt Blue (or Bleue) but I don't. Harsh taste, and a pretty weak buzz considering how strong it is. Couldn't keep this bitch cold either. Halfway through the bottle I stuck it in the freezer for 20 minutes or so, which is something I never do. 4/10 because there are better choices in "biere forte" when visiting the Great White North!

CHINO: What can I say about this stuff, It had a good smooth dry "no pun intended" taste, You should check it out if you hit up the great white north. No matter what these reviews say, If you have time you should check out canada, I guarantee you it will be a good time no matter how much of a geek you are.

LMSCRacer: Being an 8.1 ABV, I couldn't help but compare it to my new standard for taste at this alcohol level - HHG. I found the taste very good. Although not as "clean" as HHG, it was certainly inoffensive and actually pretty good. Decent enough hiss and carbonation all the way through. Drank this one after a good workout and it hit the spot. This 40 needs to be tried. If you trade cross border, get this one full and give it an honest chance. I give it a solid 8.1/10.

orentha: This has a lot stronger taste than the 7.1%. A lot more... I had to choke this one down. Wasn't good at all. rated: 3/10

sippin apache: 8.1% variant of the Bleue family. As you all know by now this has no crack as it has no ring. Super carbonated when ice cold.

What can I say. If you know labatt blue 12oz beer, it's the same brew as the % goes up(as for taste). Just more alcohol period. From the 6.1 to the 10.1 its all the same taste. Same price, it just depends on how much you want to get your buzz on. 9/10 swills. Labatt found a way to get your every day beer in what ever %alc you want player. Higher the % label you get, more buzz you get, no after taste.

wribzsone: I drank this 40 the other night. it basically tasted like a regular blue dry but a whole lot stronger. definitely didn't taste like most 8% beers, it's flavor was unique. With very little after taste and a good overall flavor i'll give it 8/10.
