Bruz: This tasted like every other basic beer 40oz, only a bit stronger @ 5.5%! Very smooth, "less filling" is indeed true as it went down quick, and a *slight* buzz factor yield this hoser a 6/10 swills. Thanks out to "Fat John" for this!

6/13/10 Detroit40oz: I had to cop one of these for sanjose40drinker on a bet we made over who would win the 2010 stanley cup western conference semi's (detroit vs. san jose) red wings choked in 5 games, so he won the deal, BUT! its no big deal since we've hooked each other up with shit back and forth for awhile now.

Anyways, Miller Lite Ice is primarily only available in the Detroit area, atleast in the 40oz form. I can get the 40's all day long, but I've heard its also around here in 24 pack cans, although ive never seen em.

they usually cost around 3 bucks each (same price as mgd, miller lite) or 2 for $5, so I got myself one along with SJ's.

I really have no idea how the fuck this brew still exists, or why Miller chooses to produce it in such low quantities for 15 years, and never really changed the label. The fact that the label stayed the same for so long shows how little of a shit Miller gives about Lite Ice, but I still think its completely awesome that it exists still, and found a place in all of our 40oz collections.

I've honestly never met a single person who ever drank this, ive never seen anyone drinking it ever. This, combined with its obvious lack of national availability, I gotta give this a 10/10 for obscurity. Its made by one of the biggest breweries in america, and I guarantee less people drink this than blatz or big bear.

If it were still 1997, I'm sure shit would be different.

as for the brew, its delicious, its got a nice ice beer style going on, and tastes nothing like other miller products, which i tend to stray from aside from high life. this would be my go to ice brew no questions asked... if it didnt cost the same price as "premium" 40's.

if I could cop this for the same price as high life, icehouse, natty ice, or most malt 40's ($2.00) then I'd buy it more often, but paying 3 bucks or 2/$5 is pretty shitty when something comparable can be had for cheaper. thats why I dont buy this too often. I'd say 2/3 of the Lite Ice 40's ive ever bought were for trades.

I can get molson ice 40's for the same price, so thats what I usually do if I wanna drop the extra buck on a nice ice brew.

theres also tons of shit hole bars in detroit that have huge bar mirrors for Lite Ice, which is really awesome actually... I can imagine bar tenders tossing 12oz bottles of lite ice out left and right when it was in its prime.

I'll hit up a whole different rating system for this shit:

taste: 8/10
label: 10/10
price: 6/10
obscurity: 10/10
chances of Tim Allen pounding this shit behind the scenes while filming Home Improvement 10/10

44/50

12/11/09 beam21: Part 2 of the recent package from satan, I actually drank this a couple weeks ago but apparently I neglected to review it. I had no idea what to expect from this, but I figured it was either going to be similar to icehouse (which is awesome) or high life ice (which is very very bad). I was pleasantly surprised, it was actually VERY similar to icehouse. In retrospect I will even go so far as to say it was better, but I'd have to drink them blind side by side to know for sure. It was more crisp and a more straight up ice beer bite like a beast ice rather than the strange icehouse funk. I'd drink the shit out of this if I could get it here. Taste B+ Buzz C+ 8/10

9/2/09 ders0: Very much thanks to SouthLyons for this 40.

I've wanted this one for a long long time. Label rules. Has that old school miller lite logo because miller gives no fucks about this product.

The taste is also interesting. Has that ice beer taste but it's a little different from say a millwaukees best ice. I can't quite put my finger on what but it's definitely unique. Maybe that's the "lite" aspect coming through, I dunno I'm pretty sure that's just bullshit and a marketing gimmick. Lite ice makes no sense to me. Either way I would drink this regularly if I lived in Michigan. Great beer 40.

7/2/09 havinafett: I just sat down to drink the Miller Lite Ice I got thanks to SouthLyon40s. I've only had this once before and it was during a show the band I was in at the time was playing in MI. It was warm as shit then and I don't really remember much about it. For some reason I love this bottle. I love the blue label, the cap, the big ICE, everything.
On to the beer. Really weak hiss on this, gave out a distinct bad beer smell. Cap was real hard to get off too. Smells like one of your better tasting bad beers. Actual taste is throwing me off a little though. On one hand I can taste some kind of Miller product in here, but theres something else I cant put my finger on. It's definitely some kind of bad beer, but its real hard to pinpoint which one. I keep thinking pabst but a somewhat different flavor. Piels with an odd flavor maybe? I don't know something like that. Maybe its got an average bad beer flavor of it's own. It was really carbonated at the beginning, now I'm about halfway down the label and its losing that pretty fast. Man, it's getting real, real weak. I've got about a 1/4 left and this shit is flat. Still cold but flat. Definitely a weak bad beer taste at the end. Its not the swill a good average tasting malt or HG would give off obviously, but its not good.
It tastes like warm bad beer at this point. The last sip tastes like I just drank an open beer that was sitting around since last weekend. Weak, weak buzz and I think that's only because I haven't eaten yet.
I could deliver a baby right now.
Although I have to admit that if I could get this around me instead of Miller Lite 40s I'd choose this over that if I had to. The initial taste was more enjoyable and if I drank this fast enough I could see how it would be acceptable when you have opt for some kind of weak light beer.
5/10 just because it has an awesome label.
Thanks again to SouthLyon40s for this.

3/03/09 dj oe 800: This has a very odd flavor. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but then i realized -- it's like a bad beer that somehow isn't watered down as much. it's actually like a stronger miller high life -- that is i believe the most accurate comparison.

pretty good, i guess. when i drink "normal" beer forties i prefer something more watery like busch, pabst, or high life. i like the taste of this, but i like it's rarity and novelty better.

southlyon40s: thanks again for this.

8/15/08 91firebird: First off many thanks to SouthLyons for the hookup on the Miller Lite Ice 40 . I've always wanted this because I'm a real big fan of Ice Bad beers. Now first off, I remember when this shit went mainstream years back but I don't think I ever tried it. A buddy of mine told me he used to drink this stuff by the case. He's a Miller Lite guy so its no surprise. To be honest, i really don't care for Miller Lite, In fact I hate it. So I didn't know what to expect with this. Crack was decent and I took a big pull to give it the true test. Man this shit is fucking delicious. It tastes nothing like Miller Lite and nothing like the typical Ice bad beer. It kinda reminded me of MBI which is no surprise because MBI is a miller product. But the Lite Ice was alot smoother IMO. Nothing like a little late night swiggin on a friday nite. Overall I'm gonna give this a 9.8/10 swills. This is by far one of the better beer 40's Ive ever had. Folks in Michigan are lucky to have access to this because this is one helluva beer.

MarkBlackout: Many thanks to malt OG IMissMy64oz for this rare bad beer 40. Light ice beers are strange. Less calories but more alcohol? It seems to me some flavor must be lost in that equation. Let's see.. great crack despite being about 5 months past the expiration date. I always take that first whiff upon opening a new 40 to see what that stale beer vapor smells like, and good lord this beer reeks. I'm intimidated by the smell. I have a feeling it is going to be a struggle to drink this shit. Right now I'm just staring at it. I wonder if it was a mistake to check the date before trying it. Fuck it, lets see what this trash is made of. Its pretty gross, but poundable. Doesn't taste strong, just sort of sour. Pretty much garbage in a bottle. Corn scraps and old mash, transmutated into some sort of "beverage" or maybe just "liquid." 5 out of 10 swills due to its rarity and the fact that it actually has 5.5% alc.

neufutur: This is the first of my 40 casualties from the Detroit trip I made. I found these 40s in a Mexican party store on Springwells Street in Detroit, and there wasn't too much in the way of taste to this 40. I mean, after drinking over a beer's worth of the 40 I had a feel that there would be a little bit of buzz imparted by it. This was something that was borne out by my experience, which meant by the time that I killed this 40, I had the beginnings of a buzz.

Miller Lite Ice is a perfect beer for those individuals that wish to get drunk but do not want to taste much of the beer taste. Pick up 2 or 3 of these 40s and chances are good that you can get lit up. too bad that the geographical distribution of Miller Lite Ice is so small; I'd love to get it up in Kent.

The taste of the 40 is about a 6, the buzz factor is about a 4. An above-average 40, for sure.

PONGI: My mother and I shared this 40 in a movie theatre parking lot in Detroit before we crossed the border back to Windsor. I agree with Bruz its your average beer taste, and goes down quite smooth. If I was to stick to Miller beer 40 brands I'd go with MGD or High Life. 5/10 swills

SanJose40Drinker: So i picked up this gem from the mail the other day. Little did some clueless clerk in Detroit know this 40 would get shipped across the U.S. to be drank by some random white kid in San Jose. All that aside, this 40 was crisp. It tasted great, for a beer 40. The buzz was small, but the taste was great. It tasted sweet down to the last drop, and by the last drop i was gettting a small buzz. But this isnt a 40 you drink to get drunk, its a crisp 40 youd drink on a hot day to get a good beer taste while swiling my favorite alcholoic beverage, a cold 40. Great 40, i wish it was all around so all could drink it more. 10 outa 10.

satan165: well miller lite is my #1 mainstream regular beer. i hate bud products. i enjoy 24 oz and 40 oz miller lites often. i drank miller lite ice way back when it came out around like 1991. at that time i definatley thoguht it was smoother and better then icehouse. ive drank icehouse many tiems since then and think it sucks. causes headaches and bad hangovers and bad dehydration. sucks.

i remember thinking back then that lite ice had more of an alcohol bite, of course we are talking abotu when i was a fuckin freshman or sophmore in HS and hadnt gotten drunk (At least not on beer) very many tiems. well i got a 40 of lite ice and my initial reaction is that it is only very subtely different from regular miller lite. no alcohol bite at all, and its smooth. and if anything, this 40 was past its prime, but still tasted fine. if i could get this, i would drink it in teh situations when i drink reg. miller lite 40s now. if anything im disappointed that its so similar. still a solid brew, and at least its a bit stronger then the reg. shit. glad i got to try this.

uk82chaospunk: big thanks to Fat John for sending me this 40. i like the label a lot, the blueish color is tight...as for the taste...that shit is great. me and my homies javier and alex thought it was one of the best ever....i cant really rate the buzz factor cuz we were drinking screwdrivers too....i'll give miller lite ice 9.5 swills out of 10
