| Night Hawk |

Bruz: Old: Last night after a terrible long night at work, I came home to my sweet cold Night Hawk. I believe 40oz Crew member ImissMy64oz said that the liquor store owner he talked to claimed Night Hawk was stronger than Camo, which would make it one of the strongest 40s out there. Liquor store owners never know anything, believe it or not... they need to check themselves. However, I don't think it was, due to it not affecting my senses. Anyway, it tasted quite decent, no complaints what-so-ever. It seemed to get warm very quickly though, and tasted like swill only about halfway down, but that may be because it didn't get sufficiently cold enough in my fridge. So it tasted decent, has one of the best labels of any 40, and has an alright effect, but I highly doubt it's stronger than Camo. Rating is 9/10 swills. Thanks out to "40 Ounce Legend" for this! New: Good crack with a slight hiss upon twisting the cap. This was a very very basic malt liquor, almost sub-par to be honest. I say "almost" because there was nothing wrong with it, but it really was basic with no GOOD attributes in my opinion. Well, other than the cool looking label. And just like the original, this did not chill very well in my fridge... and I'll be honest, I took forever finishing it too, because I was doing a lot of updating to this website while swillin it. Something else to note is the fact that I got bad heartburn right about in the middle of this sucka. Swill is swill, and no need to pee. Virtually no buzz either, even after having first sipped down a couple 12oz brews. Overall rating is 5/10 swills, quite the difference in opinion from the original, but then again it's been years since I had that one. Props to MyLiverHurts for hooking me up with this! |

8/31/10 40ozIsMyMiddleName: Just opened my first ever nighthawk 40oz small mouth bottle. Great crack and hiss on this 40 right from the get go. I've been drinking nighthawk for over a year now, but always out of the 24oz cans. I found this 40oz in Toledo while heading up north to michigan. I spotted this in the 2nd store I walked into, either a marathon or sunoco gas station. Great malt selection in the Toledo area. Got to keep my eyes open for the widemouth next time I'm headed that way. Label is awesome. Taste is cheap and shitty, kind of watered down. I like this type of malt though. Reminds me of crazy stallion or wildcat, two of my favorite malts. I would rip the widemouths of nighthawk more than any other 40oz if I had easy access to this malt. Paid $1.39 which is a solid value. I'll rate this an 8.5/10 overall. Rule the night |

11/16/09 boston40hunter: I had this 40 sitting in my fridge for awhile before I opened it. I took it out and was prepairing for a tough battle with the 40. It had a very good crack and hiss. Then I took a deep breath and expected the worst. I was expecting something aweful. I took a sip and it was very weak which surprised me. I thought it would be very strong like evil eye or pitbull high gravity but it wasnt like that at all. I took another sip knowing what it tasted like and I loved it. Its very smooth. Its not a strong 40 by anymeans but it tastes very good. Which is good, because I hate it when you drink a 40 and your wondering how you are going to get another sip in without dying. You can taste a nice beer/malt without having it be too over powering. Its something you can enjoy without having to deal with the consequences(hangover/puking etc). I felt like it was a weaker version of evil eye regular/pitbull high gravity/side pocket. Over all its a very good 40. Great label to match an awesome tasting 40.
label 8/10 |

10/24/09 91firebird: Many thanks to ders0 for allowing me the opportunity to "Rule The Night" I've wanted this 40 for a long time so when it finally came in the mail I knew it wouldn't last too long in the fridge. This 40 produced a awesome ear shattering crack that I did not expect. The 1st pull is glorious. So smooth and the WM bottle dosen't fuck around. It allows you to swill as much as you can on every pull. I expected this to taste like a Country Club based on the reviews. Everyone said its a dirty malt. It's got a little dirt/ghetto taste to it but it's way better than CC or Wild Cat. Its close to a Laser or Silver Thunder. Both of which are terrific malts. Overall this gets a perfect 10/10 there's nothing to complain about this. Smooth taste, awesome label and the WM just puts it over the edge. Top notch all the way ![]() |

10/23/09 havinafett: I've wanted to get my hands on a Nighthawk for a number of years. Only time I've ever had this malt before was out of a 24oz can and it was late into the night of a drinking session involving a plethora of different brews so I remember nothing about it. Granted the 24oz can experience is probably slightly different from the 40oz bottle (and a widemouth bottle no less) but still, I considered this my first dealings with this raptor.
First off the label is awesome, and the widemouth makes it look even more awesome. A little hiss and a big crack. Smelled like a dirty malt as expected. The taste was honestly less dirty than I thought it would be. Not sweet, but I've drank dirtier tasting cheap malt liquor by god. I don't know whether it was the widemouth or what but it went down real smooth and real fast. Its not GOOD by the normal sense of the word but its not bad either. Reading some of the reviews I think beam hit the nail on the head with "Its so cheap and foul but somehow totally inoffensive at the same time." I think that pretty much sums it up. It also reminded me of something else I liked but I was completely lost at pinpointing it. Drinking this widemouth so fast reminded me of pounding WM Hurricanes in high school with friends in my basement. Not that they taste anything alike but for some reason I just was brought back there mentally.
NH gets an 8/10 from me.
I also tried on my Halloween costume while consuming this. ![]() |

9/20/09 beam21: The pair of nighthawks made it just in time courtesy of ders0 and I had the good fortune of getting to rule the birthday night twice! Ders put it perfectly when he called this a "dirty" malt. It's dirty as fuck. Filthy cheap metallic malt flavor, the first thing that came to mind was crazy stallion, not sure if that was due in part to the widemouth or what? Nighthawk is great because it is SO cheap and foul but somehow totally inoffensive at the same time. The second one I was slow rolling hardcore and it was basically hot by the time I got to the swill; the "swill factor" is pretty much nonexistent. Buzz was real legit too for a low-abv malt as I was blasted after 2 40s and a couple old styles beforehand. This 40 sucks but it is bad to the bone at the same time and if I could I would rip it regularly. Taste C+ Buzz B |

8/13/09 d07c0m: Finally get to rule the night myself courtesy of RustyThePelican. Nighthawk kinda tastes like bird shit. It has a kind of sandy after-taste with each sip and an uncomfortably smooth wateriness to the liquid. It's ok but kinda sucks. It's basic malt liquor with a dirty taste. Cheap and targeted at minorities and the homeless. I am white and live in a home. I would buy it if I saw it. Fuck you marketing. 6/10 since it buzzed me a bit because it's so goddamn hot and shitty out. |

6/28/09 ders0: Oh man, what a dirty malt. I drank this after a MSR Ice 40 and right before a 22 of a micro and heading out to the bar. This was out of the widemouth as if that makes any difference but I will not it anyway. I was actually surprised by this malt it was the first of the return of the wide mouths that I actually wanted to drink (EE and Camo Silver are miserable). This didn't dissapoint. It tastes like a red bull that someone poured some playground sand in but for a 1.85 I wouldn't expect much else. I may rule the night again at some point in the near future. ![]() |

6/26/09 BigJandthe40: Got to say thanks to RustythePelican for giving me the chance to drink this 40oz of Premium Malt Liquor. I ripped this in 10 mins for mltv and let me say that this is a smooth light malt that is easy to get down in 10 mins, even for a rookie. The crack and hiss were strong, the smell was normal and the fist sip tasted like a normal malt. It remined me of a simple malt kinda like a Country Club or something, It didnt give me too many burps like OE and Rainier. It also didnt leave me feeling to bloated, but it was lacking the alch my body needs.
I would say that this is a must if your a bottle collector, like myself!
I give this a 7/10 for awsome label and smooth easy taste. If you see this buy it ![]() |

6/14/09 cavaliersunbird: Was going to shoot a Vid this one, kinda of glad I didn't... This is not good @ all. Kinda tastes like Water'd down Camo. There's nothing really there as far as taste. Feelin like I was ripped off @ this point. (1/2 way) Watchin Ice road Truckers. The buzz is alright. Feelin it now, 3/4's the way. Gonna cut this short. The swill tastes like water, not really swillish. Over all 3/10 Mostly cause of the kick ass label |

6/12/09 SouthLyon40s: I've decided on "Ruling the Night" tonight. No better way to do that than Night Hawk after getting off work. I'm already a bit below the label. And it's a pretty basic malt liquor. This is the first time I've ever had it. Maybe the last too? Who knows. From my first impression of it, if it were available anywhere around me that wouldn't be the case. It's pretty good. It's got a real "basic" taste - and even though the alcohol content isn't printed on the label, I can be almost certain that it'll clock in at between 5.6 and 6.0 percent. When I say "basic" that's more of a complement than anything else. You find very few malt liquors that manage to "stand out" in any way other than being bad, tasting like pure alcohol or fortified wine, or tasting like chemicals and copper. This has none of that. It's what I like. A clean, dry-ish, (almost) bitter, malty sweetness. Can't outright taste the alcohol but you know it's there. Jesus. I'm fucking writing paragraphs describing tastes and haven't had a drink in like two minutes. OK just a bit below the label now. This stuff really keeps a consistent flavor. I've been kind of dawdling with this 40. While the swill isn't really even that cold it still manages to taste decent. It's kind of a cheap looking 40. It uses these cliche looking fonts and colors. Nothing too special about it. We've got a hawk landing in a wheat field ... with what look like slums and tenements in the background. Rule the night indeed. I'm about to go outside and rule the night with a cigarette. Cheap looking 40. But great tasting. Would be in my lineup for sure. And I'm saying this as I'm clearing the last half an inch on the bottom.
It's a good 40. I don't know who I'm talking to here. Like who is reading this that I need to convince that this is an "acceptable" 40 to buy. To any random asshole in Indiana lucky enough to have this distributed near them... drink up. It's good. I'm sure it's only a buck and change. BUY IT YOU HOOSIERS. ![]() |

9/14/08 dj oe 800: old label: as it warmed up, though, it became harder and harder to stomach, and the swill was pretty terrible. the finish on this one was a labor on my part, and the bottle packed a low-end of average buzz. some chick took a cellphone photo of me swilling this in a swimming pool, but i doubt i'll ever see the photo again -- if i do i'll try to post it because i do believe it was a classic. awesome, awesome label. reminds me a little bit of soviet propaganda (although that's not really why i like it), kinda like the new kc which i drank on the same nite (no review on that one because hell if i remember it)
new label: in retrospect, i could've made a sick video that way, because i did some beer pong in the midst of it all. if it was like january, this robust brew would've been mad nice, but i was chilling out in a non-air conditioned college flophouse in kutztown, pa during the most humid day of the month, so i was fighting mad gags and spitups the whole time. but like i'm saying, it's not all that bad in itself. props to rusty pelican for the hookup.
* - that's kinda weird, considering "no buzz" and "tastes like schlitz blue bull" are in the other reviews. what's up with that?** |
|
40ozcasualty: Thanks again to MyLiverHurts for hooking me up! Awesome label, awesome slogan. Decent taste. Goes down smooth pretty much all the way down. The strangest thing was that when I opened it, it had a nice hiss but no crack. I looked down and the ring had actually come off with the cap! Didn't seem to affect the taste at all. Overall this 40 had an average buzz factor and a pretty good taste. I'll give it 9/10 for tasting good and having and awesome label/slogan. |
|
Buzzcore: I'm convinced this is just "The Eagle" with a different label. Same brewing company, same cap that doesn't break right, same Ballantinesque aroma, same low carbonation, and the same "nothing special on first swig, but really likin' it by the time you're finishing it" flavor. They probably just market "Nighthawk" and "The Eagle" in different areas? If I could get it on the reg, I'd drink it occasionally. It's really not bad. I give it the same rating that I gave The Eagle.............. whatever that was? |
|
Dukesplace: My Buddy Joel sent me a text a few weeks ago, "Dude I found you a Nighthawk, you need that?" 'Nighhawk?' I said In NYC? He replyed "Yea dude Nighthawk, Rule the night." Sweet!!!! Since then every text to joel has ended with "rule the night". Tonight Im drinking the new brown bottle curtisy of of my man Neu Future. Opened easy. listening to top 101 party songs on the radio(its new years eve 2008), Ate some lobster that my wife cooked up. Not a bad taste very drinkable, slightly tinny. Went down easy. Did anyone else notice the PJ's on the label?.. Not only does Night Hawk come from the PJ',s it comes with the PJ's! Swill was easy street. 8 of 10 swills, easy going down, minor buzz, good set up for a second 40 and a blunt. |
|
FultonCounty40z: Straight up ghetto malt, plain and simple. Kind of reminded me of a country club or a night flight 40. No real distinctions to the flavor, not too harsh...good buzz. got rough near the end, but i took too long to drink it, i was in no hurry. |
|
JoeWebberlione: this shit is pretty tasty, has your average malt liquor taste with something else to it. Couldnt put my finger on it at first but now as I'm nearing the end of it I'm starting to think this shit is alot like Schlitz Malt Liquor. Now the blue bull I will drink on any ocasion, as long as its present I'm swillin the shit, but this wouldnt be a bad substitute, if it were a little more readily available. 9 out of 10 swills. Damn, pass me another mu fuckin Nighthawk. |
|
MyLiverHurts: Drinkin em side by side, the original has the far more bold taste (and the accompanying smell) to it, the kind that damn well lets your ass know you're drinking $1.19 worth of straight ghetto juice. The premium is WAY smoother and has more of the 'classic' malt liquor taste (for lack of a more descriptive term). I would think that the Premium will appeal to a much wider clientele of boozers. It took me several times drinkin regular Nighthawk before I really warmed up to em, but the Premium agreed with me right off the bat. Winner: Overall? Regular. But I'll swill either depending on what I'm in the mood for. As a final note beware putting much stock in my personal tastes. After all, I thoroughly enjoyed Lucky Force 10...and I fuckin LOVED Camo Silver Ice |
|
satan165: This tastes fishy at first like a St. Ides. Then it seemed more nutty and malty like a Bull Ice HG. (definately without the HG though). Now its tasting a little flat but I got a bad open on this one and I think it actually is a little bit. Its about average and may be a little better if fresh. I'm also a little sick so my review is probably a little tainted. ![]() |
