Bruz: This stuff tasted like what it was... beer. Nothing special, easy to drink, produced some smelly burps and the swill was pretty bad but nothing terrible nor special. 7/10 swills. Thanks due to ImissMy64oz for hookin me up with this!

91firebird: First off many a thanks to doublej708 for the hook up on the elusive Old Style 40. This motherfucker was hard to crack. Felt like it was glued on. 1st taste was great. Reminded me of keg beer if that makes any sense. Shit is really smooth. Pounded it really quick. Haven't had a beer 40 in months so this went down like butter. Overall very good. It did not have the typical bad beer taste that I expected. All in all a very decent swill. Don't know what the ABV is but it's gotta be pretty weak. If I lived in Chi-town this 40 would probably be an everyday thing. 8/10 swills.

detroitfourtyouncer: I thought this shit was done away with around here, but my main store restocked it, so after a good while of not seeing em, i copped another.

and since theres only like 3 reviews of it, i'll throw another one on.

I'd say its definately more similar to schlitz than pabst...

not too much else to say about it though.

theres no complex flavors like some fuckin 9 dollar 6 pack.

I love bad beer so thats not bad at all...

Pabst, Schlitz, Blatz, High Life, Red Dog, Carling Black Label... all day nigga.

taste is 8/10
buzz is 4/10

grand total is 6/10 swills

oh, and it goes great with disney channel and nyc hardcore punk.

dj oe 800: my roomate works for the USDA and recently had to do some USDA shit in michigan (we live in central pa), and while he was over there, bought me this four, completely unsolicited. fuck yeah.

the shit is pretty watery, reminds me of schaefer light in it's wateriness, but unlike schaefer light, it actually has flavor. it's the classic "bad beer" flavor along the lines of PBR, et al, but MAD smooth. I was able to almost chug it, and i can't really chug for shit. it went down FAST, yet because it's old style, couldn't get a buzz -- esp. because i put it down halfway through for a few hrs. because i had to do some homework. didn't wanna drink while doing homework, although i have done that in the past.

a really fun brew, i wish it was more common in these parts, or you know, present at all.

MarkBlackout: Picked this one up on a recent visit to chicago (April 2005). I had drank Old Style countless times (almost always out of cans) without being too impressed. Because I would never buy Old Style regardless of circumstances, most of these were drank at late-night parties after shows. It tasted like shit, and (I thought) made me feel like shit. I wanted to like Old Style, but couldn't. This 40 was good though, I think the brown bottle preserves the actual flavor of the brew better than the cans, something which is not always true of bad beers. I cracked this one on a whim this evening and this shit went down good. Supremely poundable. Old Style has a well-rounded taste, less astringent/sour than I had previously thought. Buzz: mild but decent. Did not give me an "instant hangover" as I once accused this brew of doing. I'll probably cop/drink one of these next time I come to town. 6.5 out of 10 swills: nothing earthshattering, but nothing to shy away from either.

satan165: I've drank this countless times out of a can, 12 and 16 ozers. It is what it is, and nothing more. Its not made in Chicago, but its big here, I have a feeling its bigger in Chicago then alot of other cities. Don't expect to much, and take it for what it is: thats Old Style. More watered down then many swill beers I would categorize with it. One of the worst in my estimation. goes beyond 'boring' to just 'bad' due to the water flavor which can make me gag from a can.
