Bruz: As soon as I heard about this 40 I was guessing (hoping) that "Oransicle" meant "orange creamsicle"... and it did! 40 freaking ounces of orange creamsicle flavored beer! What kind of crazy jerk came up with THAT? Normally I hate fruity flavored 40s... but I do like orange creamsicles so I was psyched to give this a try. And the flavor is on point! But like with all other fruity forties, it gets old past the 22oz mark... I have a feeling the suits behind this didn't intend on some 31 yr old husband/dad in NJ guzzling the full 40 down in 10 minutes time - my guess is 40s like this are intended for females (or males but not really "men") to pour some out into a glass & save the rest for later. If I'm wrong, and they know full well that most 40 drinkers drink a 40 straight out the bottle all at once, then they're crazy. You don't see people buying 2 liter sodas to drink all at one time. This is a similar endeavor. It gets sickening. Poured some into a clear glass to peep the color... kind-of an orange-ish yellow... very much like pee pee. No real buzz either, slight at best, being 6.8% ABV. I'll give this 40 some credit tho - it captures the orange creamsicle flavor, and it's lucky I like that flavor... so I'll give this 5/10 swills - I think that's the highest I've ever rated a fruity 40. Thanks out to crosman177 for this! |

11/22/10 crosman177: Discovered this 40 last summer along with Saskaberry, shortly after the release of Thunderbolt. I decided to have it during my closing shift; drinking on the job. This flavored beer with added Orange and other flavors is unique. But the experience is short lived ugh. You crack it open and discover a nice exotic aroma that is not beer. The alcohol you do start to feel, along with a sweet sugary taste. No carbonation to make you have those wild burps. Just isn't for me, i've tried 4 times to enjoy it. Not possible. Leaves you with a tummy ache and nothing else.

1/8/10 40ozfirebird: Was looking for Something Different to Crack after work this did the trick. Its Very Sweet, smooth Tasting and Tastes Exactly like an orange creamsicle if not better, Not the Best For Pounding down the whole thing fast as it does make your stomach upset from to much sugar. Its just to much of a good thing the amount and Sweetness ruined it, however in small amounts is great would give it a 6/10 will see if the saskaberry is any better but I doubt it. |

9/18/09 itsdanko: First off, thanks to Crosman for hooking me up... I've been looking forward to this one. Crack was nice and followed with a magnificent smell. First taste took me by surprise, not sure what to make of it. I'd say it has the powerful taste of Orange Creamsicle (obviously) with a slight taste of Smarties? I'm guessing its just the sugary taste that makes me add that. I'm closing in on the 1/2 way mark and the taste hasnt changed at all.... infact, I'm starting to think this could be too much of a good thing. I feel a slight buzz kicking in around the 3/4 mark and I'm almost hesitant to reach for the bottle again. At this point I wouldnt mind putting the cap back on and sticking it back in the fridge, but I'll keep going for the sake of this review.
Throughout this 40 the taste seems to have gotten sharper... not sure if its actually happening or if its just the fact that I'm sick of the flavor at this point. Done, I let it settle for a couple minutes.... I'm left with an unhappy look on my face and an upset stomach. I'd have to rate this a 3/10. The taste is right on, but (in my opinion) its just too much all at once. ![]() |
