Bruz: The first time I ever had Wild Cat, years ago as a 40 swillin novice still, I thought it was one of the best 40s ever and gave it a 10/10 swills. Since then I've had it again and it is indeed good, but my optimism needed to be taken down a couple notches. I wish Wild Cat was available by me because I truly would drink it regularly. It's a great street malt, comparable to Silver Thunder, but with a little more interesting flavor. Flows down easy and tastes great, and the buzz is mild (it's no HG). By today's standards, I'd be happy giving it 8/10 swills. Thanks out to LMSCRacer, 40 Ounce Legend & 40oz4eva for these! |

2/12/11 cavibird2005: This is not my first time with The Cat, me and My lil bro use to play beer pong with this stuff/ However it is my first review.
Bought this last night left it in the door of the fridge all day, it cold. But not real cold. About 10 min in I am about half way down the label, lil to no buzz. Taken my time on this one I guess, watchin "Kitchen Nightmares" on hulu. I'm not noticing that skunky taste as much anymore This stuff is making me hawk some terrible lugy's. Getting to the swill now, not really that terrible. Taste I'd give a 6/10 overall Buzz factor is low I'd say 4/10 its better than a beer 40, but not by much.
Over all this 40 gets a 6/10 purely for the bad ass label. ![]() |

9/13/10 beam21: this thing carries the mad metallic street malt funk the first thing that came to mind was nighthawk although maybe the widemouth had something to do with it pretty run of the mill, very tolerable but certainly not outstanding definitely gets points for a very consistent taste thru the swill, even after warming up substantially I used to love widemouths but I'm growing to hate them and I think I would have enjoyed this more in a smallmouth hard to speak on the buzz cause I was pretty ripped when I got into it, and I was similarly pretty ripped when I finished it I have one more and I may update the review after that one for now: taste B- buzz undetermined overall 7.5/10 |
6/30/10 High Gravity Swilla: I approached it thinkin it was gonna be rough....with the "wild hops" and all but pretty damn smooth I am drinkin it pretty regular now, it stays smooth all the way through decent buzz factor and goes down a lot like Prime Time. Swill is not a factor-- 7 out of 10 swills. |

3/19/10 Detroit40oz: this used to be a solid malt... it was once made in pittsburgh, and a really awesome malt. I had about 12 of the original pittsburgh brewed wildcats between the smallmouth clear and smallmouth brown bottles, I used to be able to get those for $1.19 each in ohio and it took a couple to get used to the unique flavor, but it was cheap enough that i still went for it often and eventually found to like it alot. my first review of this was pretty bad, but i think i got old bottles of it or wasnt used to its unique wildcat malty funk at first, but it was a really good malt in retrospect. this was a couple years ago, and now this shit sucks in 2010, ever since its been brewed in la crosse wisconsin and moved from pittsburgh, its been real shitty and pretty much exactly like msr ice (also brewed by the same people.) and actually, msr ice used to be a decent 40oz, but has also recently been pretty shitty. the current wild cat is nothing special at all... it tastes exactly like all the recent msr ice and crazy stallion wide mouths. the only thing decent about this 40oz is it looks awesome in any collection. if i could still get them for $1.19 like i could a couple years back, id still probably swill em even with the shitty new form, but at almost 2 bucks and 45 mins away, i'll pass. pittsburgh wildcat: 7/10 la crosse wisconsin bullshit wildcat: 3/10 |

3/19/10 odeed: Maybe one of the most unique tasting 40's I have ever had.Has a sweet malt flavor with a corn flavored finish.Pretty good but maybe a bit to sweet for me. ![]() |
11/19/09 satan165: aroma is strong effort of corn sludge, slow and seeping. strong hit of infectious funk as well. appearance is urine. flavor is more of the corn sludge but maintains a level of crispness despite numbed coating mouthfeel.
Aroma 3/10 ![]() |

11/10/09 d07c0m: This was my first time tangling with the Wild Cat. Got it from Bruz full. He got it from Racer so it's done some traveling for sure. The ring did not detach!!! Ring not tabs! It was super hard to get the cap off and unfortunately had no hiss. I think it had air escaping somehow because it was pretty much flat That said it tasted really good, missing the carbonation but good, inoffensive malt liquor taste. Very basic, very simple. Mild buzz, relief from hangover woo! I would pound these all day if I could. In general I give the 40 a solid 8/10 because I know that it's better when fresh, untampered with by 100s of pesky mail people. This specimen gets a 5/10 just for it being a little bunk. Re-review? Hopefully someday. |

8/27/09 RustythePelican: Can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet... The Wild Cat label says "A Full Bodied Brew With Wild Hops and Lots of Malt". Well, OK then. It reminds me of the quote attributed to Hitler, that the bigger the lie, the easier it is for the masses to believe. Wild Cat (in bottles, at least - I'll address this later) has NO body, NO hops taste, and NO "malt" taste at all. It did produce a buzz, however, which I guess is good. I read 91firebird's review, that it tastes like club soda, and completely agree. For a low-alcohol (5.9%, I'm guessing) malt liquor, it has an amazingly "thin" taste, almost like it is a watered-down version of one of the heinous HGs, like Evil Eye, brewed by the sadists in La Crosse. If I were a conspiracy theorist, I would venture to guess that Wild Cat (and Four O Ice Beer) are just watered-down versions of higher-alcohol brews. I'm very disappointed with it, particularly because I've enjoyed this malt out of 16oz cans in the past (which were brewed by Pittsburg Brewing in Pittsburgh, not "GJS Sales" in La Crosse... hmm...). In a can, Wild Cat truly did have a full body and a hint of hops. In any event, the label is cool, and this is a damn cheap 40 ($1.29, bought at Nick's Liquors in Hammond, Indiana). Get one for the collection, but beware the lack of taste. |

7/2/09 BWill40s: I was lucky to get this bad boy from Ripping76 - thanks man. He was able to find the last couple small mouth labels were he is at and hooked me up with a couple via trade! This 40oz is pretty sweet it's cheap though does not have that bad beer taste. To it, I get Silver Thunder meets Big Bear with this bad boy. The label is great A tiger raging into the doom at your target. If I could get this I would rip this all the time for the price.
Swills 8-10
Thanks again to Ripping76 for hooking me up. with this what I would think is a rare 40oz. We will trade again down the road. ![]() |

6/20/09 maltliquorswigga: I was definitely feelin this malt 40, which is considered a cheap 40 in the Youngstown,Ohio area. The YO as we call it. ![]() |

6/17/09 ripping76: Been drinking these for a while now. First impression was good,Second drink just kept going down. Nice and smooth! Not at the top of my list but it's a respectable 7/10 for taste. Kinda reminds me of a watered down st.ides for some reason.8/10 for value(1.39) and 5/10 for buzz. Kinda nonexistent really. Overall7/10 swills. |

6/8/09 91firebird: First off I have to give a huge thank you to Rusty the Pelican for the elusive Wild Cat 40oz. This is one that I have wanted to try ever since I joined the forum. I have the bottle already that I got off ebay a while back. I cracked this on a Friday night and it started with a great crack and hiss. Sadly that was the highlight of the evening with the Wild Cat. The 1st sip and swear to God I said "What the Hell?" This does not taste like anything. I took another pull and still nothing. Tasted like club soda. There was some carbonation but not alot. This one was really weird. Mind you I was sober as a judge going into this because I wanted to experience the heavy "malt" flavor the Wild Cat is supposed to offer.
The funny thing is I gave my wife a swig and she said it tasted like beer. I really can't take her word on that because she does not drink at all so who the hell knows. Another interesting thing about this 40 was the consistancy. It stayed the same all the way to the last drop......zero flavor. If I had a blindfold on I would have bet the farm I was drinking club soda. Overall I have to give this a 5.5 out of 10 swills. Maybe I got a bad one. Can't wait to get this in the new WM to give it another try. Taste wise this gets a 1/10, coolness gets it a 7.5 easily for being an awesome addition. Buzz wise, somehow this gave off a decent buzz. Again have no clue as to why but in that aspect I got a nice mellow buzz off this 40. Thanks again to Rusty the Pelican. ![]() |

10/01/08 Alvin Karpis: First off a huge shout out to Racer for the hook up. I put this in my freezer for 3 hours and it froze solid. So I let it thaw for about an hour. When I cracked it open it still had about an inch of ice crystals floating on top of the brew, and when I took the first sip of this freezing cold malt it was like heaven. I drank this Wild Cat with the quickness. The "Wild Hops and Lots of Malt" really come through in this 40. Shit was smooth until the last sip. The buzz is pretty minor but with the $1.59 price tag I would always grab 2 of these if I could get it in Redding. Taste 9/10 Buzz 3/10 Overall 7/10. |
7/13/08 dj oe 800: big ups to rustythepelican for the hookup. damn nice. pretty solid classic malt liquor taste, yet not as sweet. very smooth, tastes like something that had a lot of thought put behind it. it has a slightly darker, more orange color than a lot of shit out there, almost a st. ides color, although it's not that strong. i ate half a frozen pizza while killing this, but still caught a decent enough buzz. i don't know what the ABV is, but i'd peg it for a mid-6 percenter, about.
the "wild hops" really come through in the swill. as it warmed, the hops' presence popped out in a big way for some reason. usually when swill accentuates something about a brew, it's either rotten corn syrup, some other adjunct, or a generally warm and diluted sample of the brew at large. mad nice. ![]() |
40 Ounce Killa: First, many thanks out to PhivePointOhhh for the hookup on this! Wooooooow....my last review was a Big Bear, which I thought had a strong malt taste. The Bear can't hold a candle to this stuff...the malt is so strong that it borders on the unpleasant at first. To its credit, the Wild Cat label mentions having a lot of malt in the recipe. Fair enough. Once I got used to the strong malt taste, I did like this 40 very much. It had consistent taste throughout, and the swill wasn't bad at all. The buzz factor was decent, also. Overall, Wild Cat gets 8/10 swills. |
beerface: This is really good. This Wild Cat is really good. No bad aftertaste. I can really drink this. Goes down smooth & easy. I really like this. It tastes GOOD! |
Buzzcore: Thought this was going to taste exactly the same as "The Cat" but it didn't. I don't know what this whole deal is anyway............ probably something along the lines of one brewery made Wild Cat and then sold the formula or whatever, then started selling the same shizzy under the name of The Cat. Who knows for sure? All I know is this stuff didn't taste as good as The Cat, but I don't know if that's because it was old, or because it was a different recipe. In any case, I'm not going to give this a rating because I don't know enough about "The Cat" and "Wild Cat" to make a decisive judgment. |
DaHookUp7Mile: My local liquor store stocks these on the regular. Very good brew. I can get them as cheap as $1.29 a 40. They do deals on 4 for $5. Very smooth and good taste. Almost as good tasting as Colt 45. I find it simliar to Colt in taste. Similar buzz factor too, Though im not sure the alch percent on it. 8/10 swills. |
detroitfourtyouncer: My only run in's with Wild Cat have both been in Toledo, OH. the last two times I was there for shows... the first time I got one was a couple months back, and it was a little dusty and old looking but I bought it anyways since it was the first time I've come across her.... and that one was kinda shitty. Then last weekend, while in Toledo for another show, I copped a much fresher looking Wild Cat from a pretty amazing store in the hood that carries Genesee Ice/Genesee Cream Ale/Laser/Wild Cat 40's for $1.19 each The other night I reached into my surplus of Toledo 40's and I threw her in the freezer for a little over an hour and drank it between a Mickey's and a Genesee Cream Ale... Absolutely no hiss, but a great crack, and down she goes. this shit has a really awkward taste... I dont know how to explain it, other than its kind of sour and sweet, and bitter... shit maybe its even salty. It also posessed the same "dirty" quality mentioned in my "City Club" review. It kept that awkward taste going strong all the way til about 3 quarters down when the swill set in, which was easy to tolerate. not horrible... but something I wouldnt touch on the reg. also, It was pretty much exactly how the first one I copped was. maybe I just copped dud's both times. I'll give it another try next time I hit Toledo, since these bitches are just over a buck down there. but for now, this lil lady gets 4/10 swills. |
DolbyZero: Probably one of the best malts to me. It is so fucking good cold. I killed my first 40 within 25 minutes or so. It is very much like Mickey's in taste, but yields a better buzz. One of my favorites. 9 outta 10 swills. |
doublej708: this is one of the best 40's ive had. tastes really good and refreshing. dont know about the buzz action yet, because im still drinking this bitch. but so far its sweet. smooth consistant flavor throughout. i was a little nervous because when i cracked the cap, the ring and cap came off at the same time if you know what i mean. |
Drastic Mezures: This is one of the 40's that Petan brought back from Ohio for me. It was flat so this isn't a good review. He's gonna bring me another one next time he's out here. I've heard this ones good so I'm sure this isn't the way it usually tastes. Right from the start this one was bad, when I cracked it open it didn't his or make any sound at all and as soon as I took my first sip it stank up the car. The real problem with it was that by the middle of it, it had the OE ass end taste going strong. |
elantrax: All I can say about this stuff is that its the one of the best or maybe the best 40 ive ever had. From the straight up crazy label with the wild cat on it to the claw marks going up and down the label its a straight up good 40. Crack of the bottle sent a good hiss, and taste was out of this world. The whole swill was A+ and by the end the buzz was hitting me and still tasting good. I love this stuff and would die to have it around here. I think its the best 40 out there taste wise ive ever had so far and it even beats the almighty P-Stock. On a scale of 1-10 I give this stuff a 9 out of 10. Taste if amazing, buzz is decent and only reason it got 9 out of 10 is cause I wish it had a more powerful buzz but you cant go wrong. Wildcat all the way. |
Fat John: First time I had this shit i wasn't feeling it too much but everyone else seemed to like it so i gave it another chance.Second time around shit was much better.Goes down smooth as fuck.Taste pretty nice but not as good as my favorite 40 potion Olde E but then again most shit doesn't.Swill ain't bad at izall.Decent buzz from this and King Cobra on this fine evening.New rating for this muthafackoo is 7 outta 10 swills ya jewish fuck piles(no offense to actual jews). |
ImissMy64oz: had a wildcat yesterday |
LMSCRacer: First a big thanks to 40oz4eva for the hook up on the brown bottle (I had the clear a while back that I found myself). This is a decent malt. Very mild taste and carbonation level - goes down quick. Poured a little in a glass - very nice golden color. Taste stays solid all the way through the swill. Standard buzz factor. Great label and slogan (Unleash the cat). This malt proves the PBC can make a decent brew. A solid 8/10. |
neufutur: Wild Cat is one of my favorite malt liquors. However, the Wild Cat you can get in 40s and the Wild Cat that I can find in pint cans are two completely different beasts. The Wild Cat in 40s is nothing compared to the canned stuff, and is a slightly-malty 40. As has been said with the other reviews, Wild Cat is the cheapest 40 you can find in my hometown, and you have to go 20 miles up to Pataskala, Ohio to find anything cheaper (The Eagle for $1.19). If you have a choice, try this 40. Grab a Wild Cat and a Viper HG and I would think that the increased maltiness of Viper would win out. However, Viper HG and the canned Wild Cat have a lot in common. The 40 of Wild Cat gets a 6 out of 10 swills. |
satan165: This used to be called just 'The Cat'. I found it in 2 stores in a mile in Indiana but never saw it once in Illinois. I'm worried it might be not great, but I'm staying openminded. ![]() |
shadhoa: man, this beer have more malt than a 60's soda shoppe. |
Testarossa50: i swilled it last night at a party pounded a couple vodka shots, then i mixed raspberry vodka with green apple (bad idea), then i took a tequila shot, but only to prove that chasers are unnecessary, and THEN is started on the 40 (i was impatient for it to freeze, and when i pulled it out it still wasn't that cold) it had an amazing taste though, and not just because of the drunkeness...it was very smooth with a very distinctive malt taste...i'm going to buy some cans for general consumption because those are easier to find |
Tiger Tai: yeah buddy I copped some Wildcats the other day at College Park home of the bitch ass Terps....not a bad brew for a buck. it's smooth taste is kinda like a Colt 45. me, my brother, and my boy drank 1 a piece and I definately got a buzz off it. if I could cop em closer to me I'd probably make this my 40 of choice due to the fact that $1 for a 40 is unheard of around here (unless I was to go to the straight up ghetto and probably get robbed for my dollar) and the potency of the swill. plus with a label that says "A FULL BODIED BREW WITH WILD HOPS AND LOTS OF MALT" you can't go wrong...I'd give Wildcat a 7 of 10 Swills... |
